Zepbound Week 3: Side Effect
I'm a couple days shy of completing my third week on Zep and I wanted to share some side effects.
Early in the second week, I experienced a somewhat scary bout of lightheadedness and dizziness. In retrospect, it was scary only because I didn't realize this could be a side effect and it hit me seemingly out of nowhere.
I'd been lying on the couch cuddling with the kitties before bed. When I stood up (maybe too quickly?), everything felt off kilter. My head felt light and I'd lost my balance. I sat back down to recover, and that helped, but it persisted throughout the rest of the evening. Luckily I felt fine the next morning and it hasn't recurred.
Today's side effect was a bit more problematic. I was out shopping before the weekend, and I felt the urge to poop. I'd already been to the bathroom three times today, so I should've realized this was concerning. But I was too wrapped up in shopping to think about it so I continued on my merry way. I went to the self-checkout and boom! I suddenly was in very real danger of crapping myself at Walmart. I rushed through the checkout and headed straight to the restroom, only to find them closed.
I raced to the car, and decided it would be about the same time to drive home (10 minutes) as it would be to stop at a service station. I think this was the irrational part of my brain not wanting to stink up a public bathroom. Let me tell you, that 10-minute drive was the longest drive of my life. Cramps ripped through my gut and I was clamping my butt cheeks as though my life depended on it.
I hit the garage opener as I pulled onto my street, slammed the car into park, and raced to the bathroom. As I opened the door, my hands already fumbling for the fly, my restraint gave out. Thankfully not the full load, but it wasn't pretty. I had just shit myself.
So, moral of this story, ease back on the fiber and increase hydration. I've been so afraid of constipation that I might've been overdoing it. And don't go to Walmart on days when trips to the bathroom have already exceeded the norm.
